Slow Show - The National
The National will always be my go to band… their songs seamlessly find ways to encapsulate how I’m feeling.
The Corner (Freddie Joachim Remix) - Common
I think I’ve posted a couple Freddie Joachim remixes before, so excuse me for posting another one, but he’s just tooooo good.
Gives this song a whole new vibe
Fair - Remy Zero
Just sitting here doing some work, and this song comes on. Reminded me of how great a movie Garden State was, and how much greater the soundtrack was.
I Don’t Know - Peter and Kerry
UK just does it better. So much better. If you’re a fan of Matt & Kim, Peter and Kerry somewhat reminiscent of them. I think I like Peter and Kerry more though…
Brolin - NYC
I’m not really sure how to encapsulate how I feel about this song into words. It’s lo-fi, and it’s something that won’t appeal to a lot of people. But I fucking love it.
Sorrow - Lubilu (Stumbleine Remix)
So, I just stumbled upon Stumbleine (… sorry) and his work is all I’ve been listening to lately. Seriously. Check it out
Towers (Jonathan Lee Remix) - Bon Iver
I’m sure a lot of you are in the same boat as me when I say that Bon Iver is pretty much as close to unfuckingremixable as music can get. Seriously. How do you remix something so organic? I’ve heard a couple decent remixes, but they’ve all left a bad taste in my mouth when comparing it to the original.
Insert Jonathan Lee. He gives a whole new atmosphere into Towers. It’s different, yeah, but it’s pretty fucking good.
Daughter - Youth
Just listen and feel. I daresay if this song doesn’t evoke any emotions inside of you, you are a robot.
Twigs - Ache
I know absolutely nothing about Twigs. I found one of her/their songs on a music blog and couldn’t find anything else. Hopefully she blows up with something else, but then again, chances are probably higher that she won’t.
Still, picture Lykke Li plus more bass and that’s exactly what you get. Bliss to the ears
Connor Youngblood - Australia
I stumbled upon Connor Youngblood randomly, and I instantly became a fan. Seriously. I think the thing I love about his music is how versatile he is. Australia may remind you of something like Bon Iver, but then you hear songs like Monster and Gold, and you think, this can’t be the same guy… If you’re interested, give this, and the rest of his songs a listen (most of which are available for free on his website http://www.conneryoungblood.com/media)
Astronauts, etc. - Mystery Colours
If Bon Iver and The xx had a child, I’m sure he’d be making music like this. The soft falsetto mixed with the spacious background are executed so well. fuck. From what I know, this is his only song, so hopefully we get more. very soon.
